Life and Career
Early
Peart was born on the family farm in Hagersville, on the outskirts of Hamilton. The first child of four , his brother Danny and sisters Judy and Nancy were born after the family moved to St. Catharines Peart two. At that time his father became Director Equipment Parts Dalziel, a provider of agricultural machinery. In 1956 the family moved to Port Dalhousie area of the city. Peart attended Gracefield school, and describes his childhood as happy and said she had a family atmosphere. In early adolescence, he became interested music and acquired a transistor radio, which used to set the stations broadcasting pop music from Toronto, Hamilton and Welland, Ontario, and Buffalo, USA.
His first exposure to music education has taken the form of piano lessons, later said in his video A pedagogical work in progress will not much impact on him. He had a penchant for drumming on various objects around the house with a pair of chopsticks, so for her 13th birthday, her parents bought a pair of chopsticks, a carpet of practice and lessons, with the promise that if I could for one year, they would buy a kit.
His parents bought him a battery for his 14th birthday and began to draw lessons from Don George at the Conservatory of Music of the peninsula. His stage debut took place this year Parade Christmas at St. John's Anglican Church Hall Port Dalhousie. His next appearance was in Lakeport High School with his first band, the eternal triangle. This performance contained an original number entitled "LSD forever." Here he plays his first solo show.
Peart got a job Lakeside Park, an amusement park on the shores of Lake Ontario, more later, inspired a song by the same name in the Rush album Caress of Steel. He worked into play Bubble Ball Throw, but his tendency to do business easier when was loose resulting in his dismissal. In his late teens, Peart had played in Local groups Mumblin Sumpthin, the majority, and JR Flood. These bands practiced in gyms basements and garages and played church halls, schools and roller-blading trails in the cities of southern Ontario, Mitchell, Seaforth, and Elmira. They also played in Ontario town north of Timmins. Tuesday night jam sessions have been completed in the Niagara Theatre Centre.
Career before joining Rush
At eighteen years, after struggling to achieve success as a drummer in Canada, Peart went to London hoping to pursue a career as a professional musician. Despite playing in several bands and picking up occasional work session, which was forced to make a living selling trinkets to tourists in a souvenir shop called The Frog in the Great Carnaby Street.
In London, he found the writings of novelist Ayn Rand objectivist. Rand's writings became a significant influence Peart philosophical as he finds many of his treatises to individualism and Objectivism inspiring. References to the philosophy of Rand is in his words, especially "Anthem" 1975 Fly by Night and "2112" from 1976 to 2112.
After eighteen months of free music, and disappointed the lack of progress in the business of music, Peart put his aspiration to become a professional musician and returned to Canada. Back in St. Catharines, he worked for his father selling tractor parts at Dalziel team.
Join Rush
After his return to Canada, Peart was recruited to play drums for the group St. Catharines Hush, who played the circuit in Southern Ontario Bar. Shortly after, a mutual friend convinced Peart to audition for the Toronto-based group Rush, I needed a replacement for original drummer John Rutsey. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson oversaw hearing. His acolytes describe the future of their arrival that day and a bit of humor, as she arrived in shorts, driving an old car beaten with his drums stored in bins. Peart said the full hearing was a complete disaster. While Lee and Peart he struck off personally (the two shared similar tastes in books and music), Lifeson was less favorably impressed Peart. After discussion, Lee convinced Lifeson Peart that British style drums, recalls The Who, Keith Moon, was what the band needed.
Peart officially joined the group on July 29, 1974, two weeks before the first American tour group. Peart has acquired a silver Slingerland kit that has played in his first concert with the group, openness, for Uriah Heep and Manfred Mann in front of more than 11,000 people at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 14, 1974.
Biography Rush race
Peart then moved in his new position, also becomes the main songwriter of the band. Prior to joining Rush, had written some songs, but with little interest in the rest for writing the lyrics, Peart already written underutilized became as noticed as his musicianship. The group is still finding its feet as an act of registration, and Peart, with the rest of the band, must now learn to live in a suitcase.
His first recording with the group in 1975 Fly by Night was very successful, won the Juno Awards of revelation, but, monitoring, Caress of Steel, in which the group had high hopes, was greeted with hostility by both fans and critics. In response to this negative reception, most of which focus on aspects B includes epic "The Fountain of Lamneth" Peart responded by writing "2112" on their next album of the same name in 1976. The album, despite the indifference of society label, became their breakthrough and gained many followers in the United States. The tour concluded Support with a three-night stand at Massey Hall in Toronto, a place I dreamed of playing Peart both in bars in southern Ontario where he was presented today as "Professor of the battery" of Lee.
Peart returned to England in the north of Rush European Tour, and the group remained in the United Kingdom record the next album, 1977 A Farewell To Kings Rockfield Studios in Wales. Still trying to Rockfield to record the follow-up, the two hemispheres, in 1978, written in its entirety in the study. The recording five studio albums in four years, and with no fewer than 300 concerts a year, convinced the group to take a different approach since. Peart has described his time in the band at the time as "a dark tunnel. "
From this point of the race has been almost exclusively Peart Rush

Reinvention Game Style
In 1992, Peart been invited by the daughter of Buddy Rich, Cathy Rich, playing the Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Concert in New York. Although initially intimidated by the request, Peart has accepted the offer and played for the first time with the Buddy Rich Big Band. Feeling that their performance leaves much to be desired, Peart decided to produce and star in two tribute albums, entitled Burning Buddy Buddy Rich: A tribute to the music of Buddy Rich in 1994 and 1997 to find his balance.
Peart wrote on his website that "... Yet I still had a persistent feeling that when I played in this style, I was the mere imitation, not really feels good. As the old standard of Duke Ellington said, "He said nothing No, if I swing Ain, and I do not think so. "
In early 2007, Peart and Cathy Rich has started to discuss a new concert tribute to Buddy. In response, Peart decided to increase once again his swing style with formal drum lessons, this time under the tutelage of another student Freddie Gruber, Peter Erskine, instructor drummer Steve Gadd. On October 18, 2008, Peart once again Buddy Rich concert Hammerstein Ballroom in New York Memorial.
family tragedy and continue
Little after the culmination of Rush's Test For Echo Tour July 4, 1997, Peart's daughter and first child after age 19, Selena Taylor, died in a car accident on Highway 401 near the town of Brighton, Ontario on August 10. His common law wife of 22 years, Jacqueline Taylor, died to cancer just 10 months after the June 20, 1998. Peart, however, argued that his death was the result of a "broken heart" and called this "a slow suicide of apathy. It just does not mind."
In his book Ghost Rider: Travelling on the road to recovery, Peart writes of how he had told his musicians at Selena's funeral, "consider withdrawing. Peart took a break to mourn and reflect, during which he traveled throughout North America in his BMW motorcycle, covering 88.000 kilometers (55.000 miles). After completing his journey, Peart decided to return to the band. Peart wrote Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road as a chronicle of his geographical and emotional journey.
While Peart was visit for a long time Rush photographer Andrew MacNaught in Los Angeles presented MacNaught Peart to his future wife, photographer Carrie Nuttall. They were married on 9 September 2000. In early 2001, Peart announced to his followers that he was ready to return to recording and stage. The product The group statement in 2002 was the album Vapor Trails. At the beginning of the tour that followed in support of the album, it was decided between members of the band that Peart would not take part in the daily routine of press interviews and sessions Meet and Greet upon arrival in a new city often monopolize the daily schedule of a touring band. While Peart has always shied away from these meetings in person, it was decided that to expose them unnecessarily to an endless stream of questions about the tragic life has been completely useless.
Since the release of Vapor Trails and join their fellow band mates, Peart has returned to work as a musician full time. Rush has since released a cover, EP Reviews June 2004 and his 18th studio album Snakes & Arrows May 2007, which were supported by three Additional channels in 2004, 2007 and 2008.

Musicality
Style and influences
Peart (Just behind Geddy Lee) from the scene with the Rush.
Peart is considered one of the most rock drummers by fans, musicians, and magazines. Their influences are eclectic, ranging from John Bonham, Michael Giles, Phil Collins, Steve Gadd, Keith Moon, to fusion and jazz drummers Billy Cobham, Buddy Rich, Bill Bruford and Gene Krupa. WHO has been the first group that inspired him to write songs and play drums. Peart is known to play "lacrosse, Investing Club orientation for greater impact Rimshot and increased capacity. "When I started" Outside, Peart later said: "If I broke the tip of my clubs could not afford buy new, so it does run and use the other end. I'm used to it and continue to use the end light heavyweight sticks - it gives me a solid impact, but with less "dead weight" to sling around. "
Peart has played just matched adhesion, however, decided to change the traditional role of its reinvention of style in the 1990s under the tutelage of trainer Freddie Gruber jazz. Shortly after the filming of his first instructional DVD A Work in Progress, Peart was matched primarily reused, although plays again when traditional songs and Eco test at times when he feels traditional harvest is more appropriate, as the snare drum part of its rudimentary drum solo. The author analyzes the details of these switches in the anatomy of a drum DVD.
Team
Neil Peart drum kit and 360 degrees
With Rush, Peart has played Slingerland, Tama, Ludwig drums, Drum Workshop, in that order.
Historically it has played Zildjian cymbals series A, with China Wuhan cymbals. In the 2000s, the gap Peart Zildjian, and Wuhan and began to use exclusively Paragon, a line created for him by Sabian. In concert, Peart uses a development of 360 degrees of the battery with a great acoustic drums front and rear electronic.
Neil Peart began incorporating Simmons Electronic Drums beginning of 1984, Grace Under Pressure
During the late 1970s, increased its Peart sound with various percussion instruments like bells orchestra, tubular bells, wind bells, castanets, cymbals, timpani, gongs, temple blocks, tree bell, triangle, and melodic cowbells. Since the mid-1980s, Peart replaced one of these pieces with MIDI buffer. This was done to trigger sounds sampled from various parts of acoustic percussion that would otherwise consume a lot of space stage too. Some purely electronic instrumental sounds not so used. A conventional MIDI pad is used Malletkat Express is an electronic two octaves MIDI like a xylophone or piano. Malletkat Express is comprised of rubber pads on the keys "to any proceedings may be used. In 1984, Grace Under Pressure, he used Simmons electronic drums with Akai digital. Peart has performed several songs primarily using electronic your battery. Rhythms (for example, "Red Sector A", "Closer to the Heart" de la Palma (video) and "Mystic" on the R30.) Peart Solo also features articles primarily in the electronics of your computer.
Shortly after making the choice to include battery electronics and triggers, Peart added what has become another trademark of his equipment: his drum riser. During live Rush shows, the automatic rotation Peart lift allows the dynamic exchange protrusions kit (the "front", traditional kit, and "return package of electronics"). A staple of Peart drum solo live performance has been the rotation and exchange of the front and back kits as part of its own. This particular effect in the same time provides a symbolic transition of styles in the drum solo is a visual feast for the public.
In the 2000s, Peart began to take full advantage of advances in battery technology electronics, primarily incorporating Roland V-Drums and continued use of the series Samplers current acoustic percussion. Peart shows digital library of traditional and exotic sounds has grown over the years with his music.
In April 2006, Neil took delivery of its third series of DW, as configured in the R30 series, at one end of snuff Sunburst outer plies maple with chrome fittings. He refers to this set as the "West Coast kit, as used in Los Angeles. In addition to using the recent recordings with Vertical Horizon hit in the composition of parts for the Rush last studio album, Snakes & Arrows. It has a custom 23 "bass drum, all other sizes are same as the R30 kit.
On March 20, 2007 revealed that Peart Drum Workshop has developed a new set of maple shells DW painted in red and gold hardware in black "Snakes & Arrows" logos for Neil to play on the Snakes & Arrows Tour.
Solos
Peart is often regarded as one of the best professionals in the drum concert alone. He is known for vast, complex solos drum containing the signatures of time strange, complex arrangements (full separation between the models, sometimes the upper and lower: for example, an ostinato known as "The Waltz "), and exotic percussion instruments. These solos have been featured on every live album released by the band. In the first live album (The world is stage and the output ... Stage Left), the drum solo was included as part of a song. In all drum solo live album was subsequently included on a separate track. His latest instructional DVD, Anatomy of a single drum, is a thorough review of how to build a solo. He uses his tour solo since 2004 R30 30th Anniversary as basis for discussion, as well as other lectures and demonstrations on how to build one battery is Music instead of indulgence.
Letters
Peart is also the author of Rush. Literature has always heavily influenced his writings and in as such, addressed a wide range of topics. In its early days with Rush, a large part of his work was influenced by fantasy, science fiction, mythology and philosophy. However, almost the same amount would take care of real or personal problems such as life on the road and part of his adolescence.
The song "2112" centers in the struggle of an individual against the collectivist forces of a totalitarian state. This song was the band gap but also critics, mainly credit for inspiration Peart gave to Ayn Rand in the notes. "There was a remarkable reaction, especially the press English, the late seventies, when collectivism was fashionable, especially among journalists, "Peart said." They called us "Junior fascists" and "Hitler lovers. "It was a total shock to me."
Tired of accusations of fascism or ideological allegiance Rand's philosophy of Objectivism, Peart has sought to remind listeners of his eclecticism and independence in the talks. He has however, try to argue and defend views Rand: "For starters, the extent of my influence in the writings of Ayn Rand should not be exaggerate. I am a disciple of anyone. "
In 1980, the album Permanent Waves saw Peart stop using fantasy literature or mythology antique in his writing. 1981 "Moving Pictures" has shown that Peart was always interested in heroic, mythological, but now firmly set within a modern framework based on reality. The song "Limelight" from the same album is an autobiographical account of reserves Peart from its own popularity and the pressures of fame. Permanent Waves now, most of the lyrics of Peart began revolve around social, emotional and humanitarian issues, usually from an objective point of view and employ the use of metaphors and symbolic representation.
1984 channels with Grace Under Pressure depressed subjects as the Holocaust ("Red Sector A") and death close friends ("Afterimage"). Since 1987, Hold Your Fire and Presto including 1989, 1991's Roll the Bones, and their counterparts in 1993, Peart lyric continue to explore a variety of reasons, although the treatment of the theme of love and relationships ("Open Secrets", "Ghost of a Chance "Speed of Love," "Cold Fire") a topic that has deliberately avoided in the past because of what he perceived as a stereotype inherent hackneyed. However, 2002 was devoted Vapor Trails much to talk about personal issues Peart, as well as other humanitarian issues, such as the 9 / 11 terrorist attacks ("The Peaceable Kingdom"). The band's latest album Snakes & Arrows "is first and hard for over Peart faith and religion.
Guest Peart's words have always been divided. While fans have hailed as thoughtful and intelligent, some critics have the most false and verbose. For example, in 2007, was chosen as number 2 of Blender magazine's list of "worst rock lyricists."
political
Peart has never been publicly identified with one party or political organization in Canada or the United States. Nevertheless, their political views philosophy has often been analyzed through his work with Rush and other sources. Peart is often classified as an Objectivist and admirer of Ayn Rand. The Most of this is based on his work with Rush in the 1970s, especially the song "Anthem" and the album 2112, it specifically attributed to "Ayn Rand's genius. However, in an interview in 1994, while facing the individual is of paramount importance in the field of justice and freedom, "Peart specifically distanced itself from a purely objectivist line, saying he was a disciple of anyone. "
Well Peart that sometimes as a "conservative" and "Republican rock star", he, in 2005, describes itself as a "left libertarian" and is often cited celebrity as a libertarian. He also speaks of Fox News Channel is biased towards conservatives and refutes British allegations that he and Rush are "Right" rock band in his book Roadshow: Landscape With Drums: A Concert Tour by Motorcycle. In 2008, Peart has been described as a "quasi-libertarian and said that the motorcycle helmet laws, which is often opposed by civil libertarians "are not at all a problem for me."
Books
Peart is the author of four books non-fiction, the last released in September 2006. His growth as an author of the book published for several years (without count his work as chief lyricist for Rush) by means of private letters and short trips sent to a small circle of friends and family. first book Peart called the masked rider: cycling in West Africa, was written in 1996 on a bike ride one month through Cameroon in November 1988. The book details Peart travel through towns and villages with four companions. The original had a limited run, but after the critical and commercial success of the second book Peart, Masked Rider has been reprinted and remains in print from 2006.
After losing his wife and daughter [that] time, Peart wrote Ghost Rider: Travels on the road to recovery. Peart and the rest of the band have always been able to keep his private life, at a distance from his public image Rush. However, Ghost Rider is a first person narrative Peart on the road, a BMW R1100GS motorcycle, in an effort to save his life as he embarks on a long journey through North America.
Decide on a road trip by car this time, Peart reflects on his life, career, family and music. This is explained in the third book of Peart Traveling Music: The soundtrack of my life and times. It follows Peart still carrying emotional scars, but build a new life. Like his two previous books, is a story first hand.
Thirty years after Peart joined Rush, the group was in its 30th anniversary tour. Launched in September 2006 Roadshow: Landscape with Drums, a concert tour in the details of the Bike Tour, both behind drums, Neil R1150GS BMW R1200GS and and motorcycles.

5 musicians to make a band good?

I say these guys will mix good band. : M. Shadow (except seven times), singing. (Not good harmonies) Alexi Leiho (Children of Bodom) Lead Guitar (skill arppegio Amazing) Zach Wilde (Black Sabbath). Rhythme (Alexi, he hit a bad, admit it)? (Otep) Bass (bass mix complete with heavy metals). Joey Jordison (Slipknot) Tank (Insane Drum Work)? (The Devil Wears Prada) Keyboard If someone said something about Metallica, it's overrated than their guitar work is good. But thats about it ... the feeling back no problem. ...

Known that all the people you mentioned. Is overrated too ...: x.
